What you’ll need to open your shop
None of this is needed to sign up. Build and preview your shop free for 30 days while you gather it; the shop opens to shoppers once you are on a paid plan and all of it is in.
- A paid plan. The free trial is for building and previewing, and a shop never opens on it.
- Your permanent address, chosen once in your admin after you pay. Until then your shop is on a temporary one.
- Your legal name and registered address, as on your PAN or GST registration. Trading under your own name is fine.
- A customer care email and phone number shoppers can reach.
- A grievance officer, often you: a name, designation, email and phone.
- A seller ID: your GSTIN, or a free Udyam number if you have no GST registration (about ten minutes, with your Aadhaar and PAN). We check it against the government register, and only once it is verified can your shop open.
- A National Consumer Helpline application, free and in your shop’s own name, at consumerhelpline.gov.in.
- A published product with a price.
- Your own Razorpay account, so every sale settles straight to you. You connect it once you are on a paid plan.
- A pickup address, where your courier collects parcels.
The legal name, customer care, grievance officer, seller ID and helpline application are what the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules ask of every online shop.
